My New View: Hideous Cell Phone Tower

This is the view from my living room window.  In the upper left of the photo is my curtain. Is that the ugliest thing you've ever seen or what?

This is the view from my front yard. Anyone know where I can buy a 200 ft tall tree?

This is a close-up. It's less than 500 feet from my property line. As you can see, we used to have a beautiful view of the mountains. No more. We can now clearly see this ugly monstrosity. My plan? Hope that an earthquake opens a big hole and swallows up this tower. Or, lightning strikes it and it disintegrates. Other than that, we'll be planting trees to block the view. I love the mountains, but I'd much rather see trees than that cell phone tower. With a little planning, it could have been placed in a less conspicuous place. The area where I live likes to brag that it values natural beauty. I guess that doesn't apply at my house.

I did write a letter to the editor of my local paper, but I'm sure it won't do any good. After all, money makes the world go round and Alltel/AT&T have planty of that to steamroller an insignificant homeowner like me.

Ugh. That's just awful. Maybe you could hang streamers from it and call it a maypole. An awesome ginormous, actually serves a fun purpose maypole. :)

So rude! When we first bought our house, it was in a new development, and the houses behind us hadn't been built yet. We had a lovely view of the foothills, and the agent promised us the ones behind us would all be single storied. Liar.

I feel your pain!

They were pretty sneaky getting it up without posting letters around the neighborhood giving you a chance to air your feelings. Once it's up it's too late to protest, I think. Now your challenge is to treat it like a big wart on your favorite aunt's nose--pretend it isn't there.
So sorry.

This summer we bought a new house on the outskirts of a small rural Missouri town. The view from our bedroom was beautiful. Our property was surrounded by trees on three sides and vast fields on the other. Then, it happened.

A huge, ugly, water tower was erected. It pollutes our view from behind the trees. Bummer. The water tower looks like one of the aliens from War of the Worlds.

In other words, I feel your pain.
