Wii Games for Christmas

We received Wii games for Christmas. I love doing Wii games with the family.

One of the games we received was Just Dance 2. Very fun game. Lots of new songs and much more difficult than the original game. We love it. I don't know all the songs, but I'm looking forward to playing it a lot.

We also now have Just Dance for Kids. I actually love this game. I know almost all of the songs, the dance steps aren't too difficult, but can be challenging, and it's just so much fun to play. My middle daughters love this game. 

My husband loves Beatles Rock Band. I really like this one because I recognize so many songs. I also think these songs are easier to sing than the ones on Rock Band because they're so familiar, at least to me. If only I were a singer . . . 

My sons really like Lego Rock Band. They know more songs and they love the Lego characters.

My husband gave me Zumba for the Wii. I've already tried a workout and it really works you. I love it. I can't wait to do it each day. I'm still learning about it, but I'm hoping I can become good enough to get all the moves. I'm excited about it.

But, my ultimate fav-o-rite is The Michael Jackson Experiment. Man, what a fun game. I love the songs. I love the choreography. I love the memories of dancing, back in the day, to Michael's songs. Yes, it is difficult, but so much fun, And my favorite song is Thriller. I remember the world premiere of that music video and I've always loved it. It is totally fun.Of course, it's a new way to market his music, but what better idea than to have a Michael Jackson, the king of pop and dance, dancing game.

We danced for over 5 hours on Christmas day. It's fun for the whole family and the dance games really give you a workout. .

I Love Nintendo

A few weeks ago, we lost our Wii when a lightning storm hit too close to our house. We also lost phone service, access to the internet, and thought we'd lost  a flat screen computer monitor. The first summer we lived here, lightning hit so close to the house that we lost our garage door openers, a TV, it messed up our dryer, and we lost the electric line to our water pump which meant we had no water. The water issue put us in a crisis and we had to hire someone to dig up the electric line and replace it so we'd have running water.  Lightning and I are not great friends.

But, we've learned that when lightning is in the area, we need to shut down and unplug all electronics. My kids were in the process of doing this when we lost these items in the last lightning storm. Since then, the phone company restored our service, the internet company came in and replaced the power supply at no charge, and, thankfully, the monitor works.

We were upset about losing the Wii because we use it every day with "Just Dance." We also use it to stream movies from Netflix--a very cool feature. We researched buying a new one, buying a console from ebay, and decided we'd try to repair it. The guy at the repair shop told me to contact Nintendo and see if the company would repair it. Honestly, I didn't think Nintendo would since it was a lightning storm. I went to the website, filled out the form with the serial number and was told to ship it to Nintendo for a free repair. I was surprised and ecstatic.

That was 10 days ago and today we received the Wii back, not only fixed, but with an additional 1-year warranty. I LOVE Nintendo. What a great company. Guess what will happen in the future? I'll be buying more Nintendo games. In fact, I've already purchased 2 new games--one called "Broadway Dance" and another that's kind of a charades-type game--you act out movie scenes.

I  highly recommend Nintendo. I'm a lifetime customer, that's for sure!

Wiiiiiiiiiii a Snow Day

Wooooo hooooooo. We're snowed in. Can't get into or out of our driveway. It's 1/8 mile long and we've been stuck before and my brother-in-law had to pull us out with his tractor. Unfortunately, this tractor that he also uses to plow out our driveway is not working at the moment so we really don't want to get stuck. We're homebound until 1) someone else can plow our driveway, 2) the snow melts enough to drive on it, or 3) it's spring. Until then, it's like a free vacation day: sledding, playing in the snow, playing games, watching movies, etc.

Since we're all home, my daughter decided to set up a profile for me on a Wii game, "Your Personal Coach." It's fun but a little weird working out to a cartoon. I've been working out with Gilad on FitTv, you know, a real person. But, this Wii game is supposed to be a workout specifically made to meet your own personal goals. I'm going to do it for a few weeks and see how that goes. I'll miss Gilad and his funky pronunciation of abdomen.

I've been on Phase 2 of the South Beach diet which is super easy for me. Fruits, vegetables, lean meat, cereal, wheat pasta, cheese, etc. I can even have popcorn on this phase. I have cheated by drinking hot chocolate, but decided that snow days=hot chocolate.
